Fly-In Listings Wind Down With Autumn's Approach
A 1950 North American T-6G Texan registered to Allen Yaggie of Wapheton, North Dakota, taxis down the grass strip at Battle Lake Municipal Airport Sept. 4 prior to an early morning takeoff.
Spectators at the 15th Annual Gathering of Airplanes in Battle Lake were able to observe almost 60 visiting aircraft. Organizers reported food and raffle ticket sellouts during the event.
American Legion Rider volunteers directed planes at the New Ulm Lions Club's 47th Annual Fly-In Breakfast Sept. 12. Fifty planes visited the municipal airport for the event with more than 1,500 total people attending.

Weekends in September were a busy time for Minnesota's general aviation community. The events calendar featured plenty of summer-ending fly-ins.
The Minnesota Flyer's October press time listings included events in Battle Lake, Superior, Wisconsin, Wells, Le Sueur, New Ulm, Mora, Grand Marais, and Hector.
In addition, there were separate airport celebrations in Brainerd and Blaine.
