Tanis receives STC

Tanis Aircraft Products, based out of Blaine, is the proud recipient of Transport Canada’s Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the Tanis Preheat System on both the 4 and 6 cylinders Continental, Lycoming, and Franklin engines.

The STC will be entered in the Canadian index of STC’s that have been familiarized or accepted by Transport Canada for installation on Canadian Type Certified/Accepted Aeronautical Products.

Canadian pilots of piston aircraft can now reduce warm-up time, save fuel and fly safer in the coldest weather. The preheat system produced by Tanis Aircraft Products, when used properly, will add to operational efficiency, utility, safety of flight, and reduce the problems of engine wear associated with cold starts.

Tanis Aircraft Products manufactures the only preheat system that applies heat directly to all of the cylinder heads, oil sump and crankcase. The Tanis preheat system is powered by ground power and is not used in flight. Mounted on the aircraft, it weighs less than 2 pounds (0.91 kg). The installation kit comes complete with required cabling, circuit protection, and shore power plug.

“Tanis stands for the most technologically-advanced preheat systems,” said President/CEO of Tanis Aircraft Products, Inc., Doug Evink.

“Our line of preheat and protection accessories has long been an industry standard. We are the only preheat company that has received FAA approval via a Supplemental Type Certificate for preheat systems.”

Since 1974, Tanis Aircraft Products has manufactured customized preheat and maintenance solutions for many different aircraft and helicopter applications, including single, multi engine and turbo prop aircraft.

Tanis supports the aviation industry with products that make cold weather operations safer, prolong engine life, and help reduce operational cost. Tanis invests heavily in research and development. Select Tanis’ components and products are FAA-PMA certified.

Tanis Aircraft Products are manufactured in Glenwood, MN. The corporate office is located in Blaine, MN.
