Bill O'Keefe of Grand Forks joined the Detroit Lakes Fly-In piloting his replica of a 1929 Great Lakes Aircraft (pictured above), originally built by Don Uhlenberg from Minneapolis. O'keefe, the current owner, said Uhlenberg hand built the plane from blueprints over the course of 18 years. The line of sport trainer biplanes was originally designed and manufactured by the Great Lakes Aircraft Company out of Cleveland Ohio.
